Being a candidate, I can hardly claim to give an objective report. I will state two things that happened, things that can be verified:

1) Charles Pine was the only candidate to specify how many police Oakland needs and can have: at least 1,100, if we are going to get the relative safety of an average American city. The other candidates sometimes claimed to be for more officers but were not specific.

2) Charles Pine was the only candidate advisinge homeowners to vote No on the proposed increase in the Landscape and Lighting Assessment, a misrepresentative name if ever there was one. An explanation is at www.PineForOakland.org/campaign_LLADstand1.htm The other candidates all urged a Yes vote.

I leave the "horse race" evaluations to others.
